I received a few emails asking me if fasting on juice or water will put people in starvation mode and therefore after the fast, will they regain all the weight back and gain more? If done correctly, No!! The first thing I want to emphasize is that unless you are doing a water fast for a real long time and have very little body fat, you actually can’t put yourself in starvation mode. As for slowing the metabolism when fasting, yes the fasting does slow your metabolism, put its not permanent, once you re-introducing solid food correctly into your diet, your metabolism will start increasing and get back to normal. Many people have notice the great benefit of fasting is that it decreases their appetite and they become much more conscious of what and how much they are eating. I have so many clients that after a fast, actually continue losing weight because they don’t need to be eating as much as they did before!

Over the weekend I received an email from a viewer that just started the raw food diet. She was concerned because she is having major bloating, gas, constipation for the past 2 weeks and it’s not getting any better. I would be concerned as well!!
This does happen to quite a few people and it also reminds me of the many people who tell me they’d love to eat raw fruits and vegetables but they just get so bloated. I always feel terrible when I hear this because people think its the fruits and vegetables that is causing the bloating and gas– but infact its actually a clogged up intestinal track. Think about it– when a pipe is clogged, nothing can go down, it just sits and putrifies, that exactly what happens to someone who has a clogged up intestinal track– what ever they eat, stays in the stomch too long and starts to ferment, and therefore causing all the gas and bloat. It’s not the food, its the person!!

Today I received an email asking me if someone goes on a raw food diet, will they have skin break outs or increased acne. From my experience of working with hundred of clients going on a raw food diet or doing one of the 10 Day Juice Fasting Programs, there are always a handful of people that do have skin break outs. We eliminate toxins through our skin and when one going on a raw food diet or does some juice fasting or cleansing– one can have skin break outs. Its normal!!! As long as someone is committed to a healthy diet and lifestyle, the break outs will clear up.
When I first went on a 100% raw food diet, my skin got worse before it got better. For a couple of weeks I had break outs and my skin appeared to be peeling. It was inflammed, bright red and was a little unsettling to look at!! But, it didn’t last long, within a few weeks my skin started to clear up and look better than ever!! Look at me now!!!
