    Interesting subject.

Having lots of positive energy… but still concerned about having enough of everything (vitamins (B12), minerals, and foods in general)… Noticing white spots on my nails, scars taking time to heal (as it was before the raw food)… Feeling like hitting a plateau… Your subject today left me thinking…

Why is the raw food diet excellent for our health but not recommended to a pregnant or a breastfeeding woman? I understand the idea of detoxification… but we all have the possibility of being deficient… Is there a book you would recommend or something else to educate ourselves. Thank you. Have a Fabulous day!

It is an interesting subject, as she is full of great information. :) I am a raw vegan and to your question about the raw food diet not being recommended for a pregnant person, I believe she was referring to someone who is not “already” raw/clean- going through the detox “while” already pregnant, as it is not healthy to do so…however if you have already gone through the process, then you may remain raw vegan while pregnant… taking care that it is the most healthful and well rounded way possible…

I will say this, that there are indeed some basic rules for optimal nutrition in the raw food lifestyle (I don’t really like referring to it as a “diet”)- these can be easily maintained. There is a vast amount of information out there on it, many coaches, books and video’s. A few key components are food combining for sure, and also enzyme/probiotic use. I would definitely listen to your body, monitor how you feel and take it from there. This lifestyle is as simple as it gets on the whole…raw food is basic and abundant. Fruit, veggies, nuts, seeds and kep it organic! :)
