My favorite shampoo and conditioner is California Baby super sensitive (no fragrance). Expensive, but I find it doesn’t strip my hair. The conditioner is light but can be left in (I don’t rinse it out) which is great for ends since my hair is very long (it’s not curly though).
Hi, Natasha! I love your site – I think you’re just adorable.
I tried using baking soda to wash my hair, and like you, I didn’t really find it worked. I sometimes use Rhassoul Clay for washing my hair. You make it into a paste with water (you can also add a little baking soda to the mixture as well) and then rub into your scalp. Then rinse out. It is actually quite moisturizing and cleans it gently. I also rinse with Apple Cider Vinegar – it makes my hair so soft and easy to comb. Now, to be fair, my hair is quite dark, straight and short, so I’m not certain it will work for you with your long, fair curly hair.
I also made this great hair gel by boiling flaxseed – it works really well and makes my hair super-shiny.
Thanks for sharing all the great info! Have a great weekend!
Great post, Natasha!
It’s true that simple is always better. I think that many of us lose sight that EVERYTHING we put on our skin is ingested into our bodies, just like food.

Hey natasha thanks for the great tips. I too have hair like you and have found that putting coconut oil in my hair over night then washing it out the next day with a very little bit of mild shampoo does the trick. My friends family are Indian and have used this method for generations. They also use yoghurt too which is so nourishing. I hope this helps your locks like it has mine!
@Niki
what else did you put in your gel? that sounds really awesome! can you tell me how to make it?
After washing my hair, I use, Organic Bragg’s Raw Mother Apple Cider Vinegar.
Receipe as follows: 1/3 ACV (apple cider vinegar)
1 Quart Purified Water (2 cups)
Pre-mix in handy plastic spray bottle & keep in shower to use.
After shampooing hair, spray with Apple Cider Vinegar
Leaves hair Shinny and ooh! So Soft!!
@Joanna
Hello,
Can you send receipe for coconut and yogurt.
Do you use it as a conditioner?
Thanks
Hi natasha,I tried honey face cleanser & i loved it!can i use bees wax on my skin?i am planning to make my own face moisturizer with bees wax & aloe Vera gel, any suggestion.
Thanks
@grace – It’s actually really simple to make the flax seed hair gel. There are tons of recipes on the internet. This is the one that I used:

I really didn’t follow it terribly closely – as I didn’t have distilled water (I used tap water), or lavender essential oil. This makes a lot of gel, and you need to use it up within a week or so (unless you can find a way to add something as a preservative) so you probably could cut it in half. Using distilled water would probably help it last longer too. It really works well in my hair though, never flakes or looks crispy – and gives it incredible shine and body. Have fun!
Would you tell me where did you download your site template ?
Have you tried Chagrin Valley’s shampoo bars?
